The Carlow County Museum is the last piece in the towns Cultural Quarter. The Museum is housed in the fully restored Presentation Sisters Convent; the Museum contains many of the original features of the Convent including the original Altar and gold leaf ceiling which are both part of Carlow history and breathtaking to look at.

Central to the religious exhibition will be the original pulpit from the Cathedral.

We have the original gallows from the Carlow Gaol, which will be part of our law and order exhibit. As part of our Science exhibition we will have artifacts on display from the great 19th Scientist John Tyndall who was the first man to discover the greenhouse effect, and is widely known as the father of fibre optics. The Museum is a fantastic representation of Carlow History and the exhibits are so varied that there most definitely something for everyone.

The new development of the Museum involved the restoration of the former Presentation Convent on College Street, Carlow Town. The building is in a prime town centre location and is part of a complex that already houses the County Library, Archive and the Tourist Office.
CARLOW BREWING COMPANY
This brewing company was founded by the O’Hara Brothers in 1996. As the Barrow Valley is historically a hop and malt growing region this was an ideal place to open a brewery. They produce premium quality beers with a distinctive taste and flavour as well as award winning stouts and ales.
What our guests are saying:

Untitled Document
" The Red Setter is located in the centre of town and was ideal for our two night stay. There is a large secure car park at the rear with access from a small side street alongside. The Red Setter advised the pin number before we arrived. If not, \'phone and ask.The bedroom was very warm and comfortable. The breakfasts were excellent with freshly baked bread on both mornings. The proprietor and his family are welcoming, friendly and helpful. An ideal place to stay in Carlow and district. "
